If you run a small business, CA practice, coaching centre or ops desk in India, PDF is still the default format. Clients expect a single attachment. Portals enforce size caps. Banks want pages in a fixed order. Uploading sensitive scans to a free converter you found on search is a habit worth breaking.
Productive IT PDF Tools run in your browser. You pick the task, add files from your device, and download the result. The hub groups the everyday jobs: merge, split, compress, convert, rotate, reorder, page numbers, watermark, sign and light edit.
When a browser PDF tool is the right fit
- You need a clean pack for a bank, GST officer, landlord or client today.
- The file holds personal or commercial data you would rather not park on a stranger’s server.
- You want a predictable layout (A4 pages, clear order) without installing desktop software on every laptop.
- You are preparing a tender or RFP response and must combine scans from different phones.
Merge PDFs for packs and annexures
Open Merge PDF. Add files in the order the recipient expects — covering letter, invoice, annexure, ID proofs. Drag to reorder if a page landed in the wrong place. Download one combined PDF. For board packs, put the agenda first and append slides or Excel-export PDFs after.
Tip for Indian portal uploads: many sites reject encrypted PDFs or odd page sizes. After merging, open the result once and confirm every page is upright and readable on a phone. If a scan is sideways, fix it with Rotate PDF before you merge again.
Split and delete pages without reprinting
Use Split PDF when one scan contains many invoices or when a client only needs pages 3–7. Use Delete PDF pages to drop blank sheets or an accidental duplicate. Reorder PDF is useful when WhatsApp forwards arrived out of sequence.
Compress for portal size limits
Income-tax, MCA, insurance and many university portals still enforce tight size caps. Compress PDF reduces weight locally. Start with a moderate setting; re-check signatures and stamp clarity before you upload. If a page is a photo of a document, photograph it straighter and brighter next time — compression cannot invent missing detail.
Convert between images and PDF
Images to PDF builds an A4-friendly PDF from JPG or PNG phone photos. PDF to images helps when a portal only accepts JPG pages or when you need a quick preview for WhatsApp. Keep originals until the submission is accepted.
Sign, watermark and light markup
Sign PDF lets you draw, type or place an uploaded signature. PDF watermark marks drafts as “Copy” or “For discussion only”. Page numbers and Edit PDF cover simple stamps, dates and whiteout — not a full desktop publishing suite.
A sensible workflow for Indian teams
- Collect scans in one folder named by client and date.
- Rotate and delete junk pages first.
- Merge in the order the checklist demands.
- Compress only if the portal rejects the size.
- Keep the final download in your own drive; do not rely on browser cache.

A short quality bar
- Prefer canonical https URLs when you share results.
- Keep originals until the bank, portal or client confirms acceptance.
- Do not paste secrets into public chat threads.
- Re-read official exam, GST or lender rules when they update.
Worked example: KYC pack for a current account
Suppose a bank list asks for PAN, Aadhaar, address proof and a cancelled cheque as one PDF under a stated size limit. Scan each document upright in good light. Run Rotate on any sideways page. Remove blank backs with Delete pages. Merge in checklist order with Merge PDF. If the portal rejects the size, compress once and reopen every page to confirm stamps remain legible. Keep both the full-quality and portal versions in a folder named by bank and date.
Board packs and client proposals
Agencies and product teams often combine a covering note, slide export and appendix of screenshots. Put the decision ask on page one. Append evidence after. Add page numbers so reviewers can comment by number on a call. A light “Draft” watermark avoids an unfinished PDF being forwarded as final. None of this needs a desktop licence for every freelancer on the project.
Common failure modes
- Phone photos of printouts that are skewed and shadowed — retake before you compress.
- Password-protected source files that block merge — unlock first.
- Uploading an encrypted “secure” PDF to a portal that silently fails.
- Relying on browser cache instead of saving the download to Drive or disk.
When your workflow outgrows one-off PDFs — branded templates, approval trails, CRM attachments — that is the moment to talk about a fuller document system. Until then, the browser tools cover the daily grind without drama.
